Gold Provider Checklist
Use this checklist before creating an account or transferring funds. The right answer depends on the product, but vague answers are useful warnings.
Identity and permissions
Confirm the full legal entity, company number, physical address, domain and payment-account name through independent sources. For regulated activities, use the FCA Firm Checker and the contact details listed there. Remember that physical bullion itself is generally not FCA regulated.
Price and complete cost
Ask for spot reference, retail premium, delivery, storage, insurance, platform or product charge, currency conversion, withdrawal fee and a current buyback quote. Compare the full round trip rather than a promotional purchase discount.
Ownership and custody
Ask when legal title passes, whether holdings are allocated, how bars or coins are identified, who the custodian is, what independent audit exists, whose insurance applies and what the insolvency process would be.
Delivery, withdrawal and sale
Confirm timeframes, identity checks, insured delivery, packaging requirements, minimum withdrawals, settlement, cancellation rights where applicable and the formula used to price a sale.
Pressure test
Walk away from guaranteed returns, urgency, secrecy, unsolicited contact, payment to an unrelated account, refusal to provide documents, or a buyback promise that is not written into current terms.
